AquaTru Carafe vs Classic: Which Is Right for You?
Both purifiers use the same 4-stage RO technology and carry the same NSF certifications. The decision comes down to household size, material preference, and counter space. Here's everything that actually differs.
Quick answerCarafe for 1–2 people who want glass. Classic for families.
If you live alone or with one other person and want glass over plastic, get the Carafe. If you have a larger household or want lower per-gallon maintenance costs, get the Classic. Filtration quality is identical either way.

The filtration is identical — this is purely a lifestyle decision
People sometimes assume the Carafe is a "lighter" or less capable system. It isn't. Both units use the same patented Ultra Reverse Osmosis process, hold the same NSF certifications, and remove the same 84 contaminants. The RO membrane pore size, filtration pressure, and performance standards are the same.
The only meaningful differences are in size, capacity, and materials.
Choose the Carafe if...
- You live alone or with one other person
- You want to store clean water in glass rather than plastic
- You want to refrigerate your purified water
- You have a small kitchen with limited counter space
- Design and aesthetics matter to you
Choose the Classic if...
- You have 3 or more people in your household
- You cook with RO water regularly and need higher volume
- You want the lowest possible per-gallon filter cost
- You prefer not to handle glass regularly
- You need to share filters with an AquaTru Under Sink model
The filter incompatibility issue
This catches people off guard: if you buy the Carafe now and later get a Classic (or vice versa), you'll need completely separate filter sets for each. They don't share any filters. If you think you might upgrade or add a second unit later, it's worth factoring that into your decision now.
